Our Hogs,
Are raised by Hidden Spring Acres (David & Fannie Beiler) who live 5 miles from our farm.
David and his family believe in the Red Wattle breed of pigs because this breed is known to be a good grazer, meaning they love eating grass and digging around in the dirt eating plants and whatever else Mother Nature provides for them, which results in them eating less grain and therefore creates great marbling in the meat.
However, David does feed them a minimum amount of All-natural, GMO-free corn pellets to ensure their weight gain and during the winter when they cannot eat grass he will feed them clover hay and baleage to reduce the grain consumption. The pigs also receive a deworming and an iron shot prior to weaning from their Mothers to ensure a healthy growth.
